Top 10 signs you’re about to get a bad cup of coffee
We’ve all been there. You’re craving some coffee and you’re in unfamiliar surroundings. You come across a place that claims to serve coffee, and you take their word for it. But alas, not all coffee is created equal. Since coffee has to be made by a real person moments before it’s consumered, there’s more variety in a cup of coffee than a glass of wine. You rarely come across a wine that’s undrinkable, but I’ve run across plenty of coffee that is.
There’s nothing snobby about finding that perfect cup of coffee, but we can all be caught off guard by the need for caffeine, which can blind us to what we’re about to partake. Here are some signs to look for, culled from a lot of bad experiences:
- The one taking your order is also making your drink.
- They ask you for the size of your drink, especially with nonsensical drink sizes.
- Beans are pre-grinded and sealed for “freshness.”
- They ask if you want room for milk.
- Your drink is made out of sight.
- Your beans or drink are “flavored.”
- It’s served from a hot pot.
- They scoop the foam on top of your espresso drink.
- You ordered it from a drive-through window.
- You ordered it form a waiter or flight attendant.
